Firm, round, and super sweet! Sweetie Cherry is everything a cherry tomato should be! This variety is a great choice for every garden and produces an abundance of small, 1-inch fruit.
This variety is ideal for eating fresh or canning. Sweetie Cherry Tomatoes are prized for their early harvest and sweet flavor.
Start seed indoors in a sunny location three to five weeks prior to warm weather and transplant outdoors in full sun when seedlings display four to six leaves and weather is warm. Alternatively, sow seed directly in the garden when soil is warm and danger of frost passes. Tomatoes must receive at least 1 inch of water a week.
You'll know a tomato plant is ripe by observing the bottom end of the fruit. Harvest when the tomatoes are at their peak color. When the fruits are ripe, they will be easily plucked from the vine.
Harvest a healthy tomato that has ripened on the vine. Wash the tomato, air dry, then cut it in half. Using a small spoon, scoop out the seeds and place them in a small jar. Leave the seeds in the tomato pulp to ferment. Cover the jar and store it in a warm place for three days, opening the jar daily to mix the seeds and pulp. A bit of white fungus may appear, but this is normal. After three days, fill the jar with water and allow seeds to settle to the bottom. Dump out any water and floating seeds (viable seeds will sink to the bottom). Repeat the process until no seeds float, then drain and place seeds on a paper towel to dry for a week. Store them in a cool, dry place for up to five years.
