Presenter giving a presentation to young children

The Library is proud to partner with educators, homeschooling families, and caregivers to support learning in and out of the classroom.

We offer a wide range of resources, including books, digital tools, and curated materials to enhance teaching and learning. Our Youth Services staff bring the Library to your classroom or program, and we're here to assist with everything from lesson planning support to parent and educator resources. Together, we can spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning.

Visiting the Library with Children

The Wood Dale Public Library strives to offer a safe, welcoming, and friendly space for all, and requires young patrons to meet certain behavior expectations in order for everyone to enjoy the Library, regardless of age.

Children 10 years of age and younger must be accompanied and directly supervised at all times by a parent or responsible caregiver 14 years of age or older. Older children (11 years and older) are welcome to use the Library independently; however, responsibility for minors using the Library rests with the parent/guardian. Children are expected to follow all Library policies. Read our Patron Conduct and Behavior Policy and our Unattended Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy for more information.

Caregivers must assume responsibility for deciding which library resources, including internet sites, are appropriate for their own children, and for monitoring their children’s use of the Library and the resources it makes available to everyone.

Read our Computer and Internet Use policy for more information.

Especially for Teachers & Educators

Enjoy access to our vast collection of materials, digital resources, services, and programs. Teacher cards are issued at the start of each school year to School District 7 teachers. Teachers are provided with the library card number and PIN only, and card information can only be used at the Wood Dale Public Library for school-related resources. If you are a local educator not affiliated with School District 7, please reach out to the Library to inquire about a teacher card.

With your teacher card, you can place items on hold using the library catalog. For School District 7 teachers, when requested items are available, a staff member will drop off the items at your school. Book return boxes are located at each School District 7 school.

The Library can set aside books for curriculum support for any projects or assignments students are working on. Contact us at least 10 days prior to the beginning of the assignment. Include what type of resources you are looking for and the timeframe.

We love visiting schools and having students come visit us! Staff are available to represent the Library at school-wide events, and arrangements can be made for the Library to host school events at our location.

To request a visit, please fill out the form below and a staff member will get back to you. Requests will be reviewed for staffing and facility availability. Please request visits at least three weeks in advance.

School District 7: Library staff classroom visits and/or field trips to the Library are typically scheduled at the beginning of the school year.

All school visits are limited to schools located inside the library district service area.
