The Power of Reading

Reading opens up new worlds, offering us the opportunity to explore different perspectives, ideas, and cultures.

Whether you’re reading fiction or nonfiction, each book is an opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with others. Reading not only enhances your knowledge and critical thinking, but it also helps you understand yourself and the world around you. It’s an enriching activity that stimulates the mind, sparks creativity, and encourages empathy.

Most importantly, reading is for everyone. Reading provides equal access to knowledge, imagination, and personal growth, available to everyone, regardless of background or resources. Whether you’re reading for pleasure, education, or self-improvement, the library ensures that cost is never a barrier to knowledge. That’s one of the key values of your public library—access to a wealth of resources at no additional cost.

Reading Together

At the Wood Dale Public Library, we believe that reading is a journey best shared. We offer a variety of programs that encourage families, friends, and community members to come together and learn to appreciate the joys of reading.

Storytimes

The Library offers engaging and interactive storytime sessions designed to inspire a love of reading in children. These sessions are a fun and educational way for young learners to experience stories, develop early literacy skills, and explore the magic of books. Led by our skilled staff, storytimes provide an opportunity for children to enjoy books in a group setting, fostering both imagination and a lifelong passion for reading.

Book Clubs

Our book clubs offer a space to connect with fellow readers, engage in thoughtful discussions, and share your love of books. Whether you're into fiction, nonfiction, or specialized genres, our clubs are a great way to explore new titles and meet like-minded individuals.

Reading isn't just an individual activity—it’s an experience that can be shared with those around you. Together, we can learn, grow, and discover the power of stories.

We hope you find joy and inspiration in everything the Library has to offer. Whether you’re visiting us in person or accessing our digital collections, we are here to support your reading journey every step of the way. Visit the For Readers section under the Borrow menu above to continue your reading journey.
