At the Wood Dale Public Library, play is more than just fun—it’s a vital part of early learning and healthy development.
Our play areas are thoughtfully designed to encourage creativity, exploration, and social connection for children of all ages. Whether building with blocks, engaging in imaginative play, or discovering something new at one of our activity stations, kids are learning essential skills while having fun. It's also a great place for families to connect and for children to make new friends in a welcoming, safe environment.
Indoor Play
Our indoor play area offers a fun, educational space where kids can explore, imagine, and learn. Children can cook up pretend meals in the play kitchen, build structures at the block table, and experiment with light and color on the light table. The Everbright Wall—a glowing, hands-on light wall—invites creative play for all ages. Play stations are rotated regularly to keep things fresh and exciting.
In not partaking in the fun, caregivers can relax nearby with a drink from our coffee bar.

Outdoor Play
When the weather is nice, head outside to our backyard play space, designed for young children to climb, create, and explore. Kids can enjoy a wooden playhouse, a climbable cave, and the Leaves of Thyme station—packed with interactive elements that support fine motor development.
