Using the Library:

Library Card

Library cards are free to anyone who resides within the Wood Dale Library District.

How To Get Your Card
Bring in two forms of identification: a photo ID and a document which supplies both the name and proof of current address. Appropriate forms of identification include: a Driver's License, State ID, current utility bill, Illinois voters registration card, lease, or mortgage papers. Children under eighteen years of age must have a parent or guardian present at the time of registration.

*With an online library card you will have full access to electronic resources, as well as the the ability to place up to 5 holds on the online catalog, but you will be unable to checkout any physical items until you visit the library an verify your residency.

Library Services

 

Computers

The library provides access to computer stations running Windows with Microsoft Office software, a quiet adult computer lab, and printing. All you need is your library card to get online! Portable laptops are also available for in library use with our free public wi-fi.

Early Literacy Station

An Early educational workstation specifically designed for children ages 2 through 10. These computers are designed to inspire every child to become a lifelong learner. With over 60 educational programs in either English or Spanish and a kid friendly menu that "knows" how to speak to the child in either language, this new lab is sure to help your child succeed in school or to just have some fun! These workstations are also available for checkout!

Reference Services

From researching your latest school project, to looking up a medical condition, we'll help you find resources to meet your information needs. Do you have a question? Let us help you find the answer.

Programming

Spend some quality time with friends and family at the library. We have story times, adult and children's reading programs, Wacky Wednesday, Thursday Family Entertainment Nights, and much more. You'll find educational and entertaining programs for all ages.

Library resources include over 100,000 library items to select, from books, DVD's, audio books, magazines, and much more!

Loan Periods

All materials may be returned in the indoor or outdoor book drop.
The outdoor bookdrop is open 24/7 for returns.

Auto-Renewal of Materials Program

The auto-renewal program automatically renews eligible library materials on the day they are due for patron accounts in good standing. See below for renewal limits. If you do not receive Library notices via email or text please call 630-766-6762..
The following items do not auto-renew:
  • Items requested by other patrons
  • Items borrowed from certain libraries outside our system
  • Items that reached their maximum renewal limits
    • Quick Pick collection - 2 renewals
    • Mobile Hotspots - 2 renewals
    • Early Literacy Station Computers - 2 renewals
    • All other library material - 5 renewals
  • Digital collection items, such as e-books or e-magazines
At any time you can log in to My Account to view your account information or call the Library at 630-766-6762 to check the status of your items.

Extended Use Fees

Wood Dale Public Library District does not charge extended use fines.
